Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of the terms

Lua Labs is a service operated by Lua Care. By accessing or using Lua Labs at lua.care/labs, you accept these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

Acceptance when you enter your email or subscribe. When you enter your email address to receive an access code (OTP), when you verify that code, or when you purchase any subscription plan, you represent that you have read and accept these Terms of Service and the Lua Labs Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not enter your email or use the service.

2. Description of the service

Lua Labs is a digital research laboratory on women’s hormonal health. It offers research lines, scientific reports that synthesize peer-reviewed literature, and an artificial-intelligence assistant that answers questions based exclusively on that corpus of reports. Lua Labs is for educational and scientific-communication purposes.

3. Important medical notice

Lua Labs is NOT a medical service and does not replace consultation, diagnosis, or treatment by a health professional. The content —including the reports and the AI assistant’s answers— is exclusively informational and educational.

Using Lua Labs does not create a doctor-patient relationship with Lua Care or any person. The "candidate formulations," hypotheses, and compounds described in the reports are scientific research proposals that require validation; they are not treatment recommendations, dosages, or prescriptions. Do not make health decisions based solely on Lua Labs; always consult a qualified health professional.

4. Artificial-intelligence assistant

The Lua Labs assistant generates answers automatically using AI models (currently Claude, by Anthropic, operated through Amazon Web Services; we may use different providers depending on availability and technological evolution). Regarding the assistant:

  • It answers only based on the Lua Labs report corpus and cites the corresponding scientific sources.
  • It is generated automatically and may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or errors; it must not be used as the sole basis for health decisions.
  • It never issues diagnoses, prescriptions, or personalized treatment plans.
  • Do not enter sensitive personal data in the chat (full name, identifiers, identifiable clinical data of third parties). What you type is transmitted to the AI provider to generate the answer (see Privacy Policy).

5. Access by email (OTP code)

Access to Lua Labs’ gated features (full reports and chat) requires verifying your email with a one-time code (OTP). You are responsible for the security of your email. Your session is kept in your browser via a signed cookie for a limited period; once it expires you must verify your email again. Access is personal; do not share your session.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Lua Labs offers a free plan with usage limits and paid subscription plans, managed through Stripe:

  • Free — 10 questions per month — no cost.
  • Plus — 100 questions per month — USD 9 / month.
  • Research — 500 questions per month — USD 29 / month.
  • Subscriptions are auto-renewing monthly. They renew at the same price at the end of each period unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • Payment is processed by Stripe. Lua Care does not store or have access to your card data; Stripe acts as payment processor under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • You may manage or cancel your subscription at any time from the Stripe customer portal linked within the service. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the already paid period; you keep access until that date.
  • Refunds: unless applicable law provides otherwise, payments are non-refundable, including partially used periods and unused question quotas. We may, at our discretion, evaluate refunds case by case.
  • Prices are stated in U.S. dollars (USD) and may not include applicable taxes, which will be calculated according to your jurisdiction. Prices may change; any change will be notified and will apply from the next renewal period.
  • Monthly question quotas reset according to the service’s rules and are non-transferable and non-refundable.

7. Acceptable use

When using Lua Labs you agree to:

  • Not attempt to access other people’s accounts, sessions, or data.
  • Not use automated means (scraping, bots, scripts) to extract reports or the corpus, nor circumvent usage limits or the email gate.
  • Not reverse engineer the service or the AI models, nor attempt to extract system prompts or internal instructions.
  • Not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit the reports or the assistant’s answers.
  • Not use the service for illegal, defamatory, or rights-infringing purposes.

8. Intellectual property

The reports, research lines, text, trademarks, design, and software of Lua Labs are owned by Lua Care or its licensors and are protected by applicable law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and read the content for your personal, non-commercial use. It is prohibited to use Lua Labs content to train artificial-intelligence models or to create derivative products or services.

9. Service availability

Lua Labs is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, freedom from errors, or that the corpus is up to date at all times. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any part, including plans and prices) at any time, with reasonable notice where possible.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lua Care, its directors, employees, affiliates, and providers will not be liable for:

  • Direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use Lua Labs.
  • Health or any other decisions made based on the reports or the AI assistant’s answers.
  • Inaccuracies, errors, or omissions in AI-generated content.
  • Interruptions, data loss, or unauthorized access caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

In any event, Lua Care’s total aggregate liability to you for any claim related to Lua Labs will not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100, whichever is greater.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Lua Care harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of Lua Labs, your breach of these Terms, or the infringement of third-party rights.

12. Changes to the terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify significant changes through the service or by email. Continued use of Lua Labs after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of them.

13. Termination

You may stop using Lua Labs at any time and cancel your subscription from the Stripe portal. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, without prejudice to periods already paid under section 6.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States. Any dispute will be resolved before the competent courts of Mexico City, without prejudice to the consumer rights granted to you by the law of your place of residence.
